How much should I pay for Online Childbirth Classes?
A typical independent weekend childbirth course costs anywhere from $150-$350, but we don't want to exclude people who cannot afford this price or who may be hesitant to invest because they already paid for another course that didn't meet their needs. We believe that birth wisdom belongs to all women and to that end, we are committed to keeping this course affordable and accessible. We have decided to leave it up to the individual to discern what they can personally afford to invest, whether based on one's current income or based on the value you ultimately feel the course brings to your experience of pregnancy, birth and motherhood. What most women find is that the knowledge they gain to help them protect the sanctity of their child's birth is priceless. Consider the time, money and effort that many people invest on their wedding day, their cars or their homes! Even the most expensive birthing class on the planet would be a mere fraction of such costs! YET, investing in upholding the integrity of your experience as a birthing woman and the sanctity of your child's birth, is surely worth considerably more, and has much greater and far reaching impact and importance.

How is this class different than a hospital based or conventional birthing class?
Many women complain that conventional birthing classes focus mostly on preparing couples to adapt to hospital procedure and protocol instead of offering families practical preparation, empowerment or true informed consent. The philosophy of many of these types of courses, typically is to "prepare for the worst and then hope for the best". While some may feel that such an approach is right for their family, what we offer is something very different. For the most part, we do not give much attention to what could go wrong (other than to offer practical preventative approaches).
Due to the fact that information about birth complications, interventions, and hospital procedures are prevalent and pervasive, we feel that there is no need to include or emphasize them here. Many pregnant women find themselves feeling "bogged down" by too much derogatory, stressful or fear based information about childbirth, often coming at them from all directions.
Rather than perpetuate disempowerment, we prefer to offer insights about giving birth that reduce fear and anxiety, while at the same time inspire greater courage and confidence in the birthing woman. We do this through engaging and thoughtful contemplation, introspective journal exercises and by helping you integrate a thorough understanding of, and a healthy respect for birth physiology. Through this course, you will find yourself inspired by just how well, women are biologically equipped to birth with ease and without complication. We offer a deep understanding of the beauty and brilliance of giving birth, including many encouraging and emerging facts that most familes have never even heard of before!
We also cover a great deal of practical and empowering information that inspires women to want to fully embrace the whole spectrum of motherhood from pregnancy to birth and bonding with baby. We focus on informed consent, awareness, confidence, courage and trust as essential states of mind in preparation for birth.
I am having a Midwife attend my birth. Do you think that this course will give me support and guidance above and beyond what my midwife offers?
This course will absolutely compliment your current care, given that it is very likely that your Midwive's highest intention is to facilitate the most easeful and gentle birth experience for both you and your baby. Yet no one, not even your Midwive, can give birth for you! While your Midwife will provide a birthing environment that reduces the likelihood of interventions and any outside interference with your process, it is the inner work that you do, that will allow you to birth uninhibitedly and in awareness. From an intellectual perspective, we help you to unearth and overcome any lingering unconscious societal fears and limiting belief systems that are founded in birth mythology. Ones that could otherwise hinder you from opening fully and relaxing into the birth process, regardless of where and with whom you give birth.
Can one really learn how to give birth online?
While many will tell you differently, we feel that there really is no method for giving birth. The whole idea of teaching "how to" give birth is essentially a concept that has arisen as an attempt to commercialize and complicate an innate ability being intrinsic to all women. Birth can only be experienced. What we offer is an approach and mindset that supports instinctive birth physiology, so that you can access the place inside of you that holds intrinsic knowledge of how to give birth. This is not an intellectual knowing, yet we work with your intellect to help you "get out of your own way"! We help women unearth and ``compost``the fears they carry based on societal conditioning, while transforming fright into excitement for the ecstatic potential of birth! We teach you how to create a undisturbed birthing environment (both the physical environment and the psychological environment in which your birth occurs) so that you can open up to your full physiological potential to give birth uninhibitedly. We back up natural birth wisdom from an intellectual perspective by referring to the work of Dr. Sarah Buckley, Dr. Michel Odent, Dr. David Chamberlain, Dr. Thomas Verny and many other birth guardians with a scientific backround. Our course does not teach how to give birth, but rather how you can create the inner and outer conditions that support you to experience the fullness of your birthing potential AND how these same conditions protect your baby's senses so that he/she can open fully to life without having to be born in fear or trauma.
